You Can Do It Duffy Moon!
Do you remember those afterschool specials from the 70’s? There was one that left an impression. It was about a kid, Duffy Moon, with self esteem issues. He used a catch phrase that has become a mantra for me. In fact, my mother used to repeat it whenever I whined about not being able to accomplish something. In her best positive tone, she would say, “You can do it Duffy Moon.” A simple Google search reveals that others share my fascination.
It is critical to have phrases and triggers you can use to pull yourself out of the doldrums. You’re in control. If you learn to master your behavior, you will have far more success.
Give yourself an attitude adjustment by reading quotes you have entered in your PDA. There is nothing like a little extra motivation on the go.
So, the next time you find yourself whining, say to yourself, “You can do it Duffy Moon.” Then, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get on with it.

Yeah I remember that show, in fact I still have that phrase running through my head at times! I'm 38 and remember the phrase more than the show. Quite a flashback! Thanks for the trip back in time. I don't use a true PDA, just an iPod that keeps my contacts, calendars and notes.

Thank god its not just me! I'm 38, and have never forgotton those immortal words 'you can do it Duffy Moon!' My husband thinks i'm nuts!!

OMG... LOL thank God I saw this! You're not alone in the nuthouse!! I'm 35 & I use that phrase here and there, but I tried explaining it to my hubby recently and couldn't remember anything about the show... but for some reason that stuck with me.

Just stumbled into here the same way. My little brother and I have said this phrase to each other since we were little. We are now 35 & 32yrs old and this afternoon I declared, "I'm going to google that when I get home."
I did and was thrilled to read all about the show, the cast (Thurston T. Howell, III...impressive) and the many other 30'somethings who remember it too!

Yeah. I still remember watching Duffy Moon. It was shown on the first day I started senior school here in England so that would have been early September 1978. I can't believe I also still say "You can DO it Duffy Moon". God I'm sad! :-)

You know, I am 35, and my mom says that I used to say "you can do it duffy moon pune..pune..pune"...when I was a kid. I had no recollection of this and decided to research this movie....I was so shocked to find this I called her right away!!

I'm only 26, but my elementary school made us watch that special. It was on a projector and we stopped class for the movie. My brother and I still rave about this movie!! Every time one of us gets down, we tell the other "YOU CAN DO IT DUFFY MOON"...!!!!!

i cant believe it. i have never been able to forget that prhase. im 38 and have used that phrase for years with my younger nephews and neices. ive always explained to them that it comes from a show I saw as a kid. i'd love to watch it again. i've used it with my wife and even at work thru the years and it does make people just kinda look at you weird. i guess many of them have no idea about Duffy unless your maybe 35 and older.

I'm 34 and my last name is Duffy, so needless to say my friends would say that phrase over and over to me. I socked a few shoulders when it started to get annoying.

OMG! Im not alone! I'm 30 and vaguely remember watching it when i was really little with my 3 older siblings and the only think i can remember was the weird inner voice that would say "You Can Do It Duffy Moon!" to that kid! We all repeated that constantly after watching it whenever we were trying to do something crazy together like tie our bedsheets around our waists and lower each other from our 2nd story playroom window to escape punishment from my aunt/babysitter! My hubby is 1yr older than me and didn't see it growing up so he has no idea what i'm talking about whenever i use the phrase to encourage him to complete items on my "honey-do" list! this is awesome! thanks for the post!

I am 46 and still utter the phrase " You can do it Duffy Moon" If fact I even used it this morning when my 13 year old daughter said she was studying for a test and said she would try her best. I then said that famous phrase. My sisters use it as well. The are 48 and 43. I am not sure why I remember that show and specifically that phrase but I do and it has stuck with me for 33 years and going !
